Artwave 2026: NOCTURNE
A Garden of Light, Sound & Scent
Menteath Skincare at The Woodshed, Hamsey
Saturdays 5 & 19 September | 12–8PM

An immersive Artwave experience exploring light, sound, scent and nature within the gardens at The Woodshed, Hamsey.
Created by Flick Stuart-Menteath, founder of Menteath Skincare, Nocturne is rooted in her connection to the Hamsey landscape and ongoing studies into the phenomenology of light - how sunlight, dusk and moonlight alter our perception of space, memory, belonging and nature itself, shaping our mood, behaviour and the way we move through and connect within nature.
Having spent the past six years immersed in this landscape - riding horses across its hills, working alongside the rhythms of the farm and observing the changing seasons - Flick brings together light, scent, sound and atmosphere in a sensory garden experience from day into night.

Daytime Programme | 12–5PM
Visitors are invited to slow down and spend time in the garden with:
-
Sound baths
-
Wellbeing workshops
-
Treatments in the garden
-
A curated Menteath Skincare retail section
-
Botanical skincare, scent and ritual objects
-
Exhibition of collage works by artist and designer Jax Graham
Jax Graham’s work fuses childhood memories of nature and Sierra Leonean culture with British artisan textures, materiality and storytelling - creating layered collage pieces rich in atmosphere, memory and place.

Evening Programme | 5–8PM
As evening arrives, the garden transforms.
Light installations awaken the pathways and planting while downtempo sounds from Smoke Stories drift through the air. Flick brings together her atmospheric soundscapes inspired by the earth’s attar - fusing music produced by her sister, Nic S-M, with sounds inspired by their childhood in the Fenlands.
Drinks will be available from the FyrFly horsebox bar, alongside local food offerings.
